Forest Project
Woodland and Forest Experience
Brannock High School Parent Council to seek your support for an exciting new project that we are undertaking to create a woodland forest school on a small area of woodland beside our school. This initiative aims to provide children with a hands-on learning experience in nature, fostering creativity, environmental stewardship, and outdoor skills.
March
Last week we saw a lot happen - on Friday, 7th, the Coutryside Ranger team from NLC came along with a volunteer group - They did an amazing job of clearing the entrance area, curtting back the bushes along the external path, lifting some of the trees in the entrance area and cutting back the willow. Paths inside the forest area were enlarged and tidied up. Altogether a fantastic and amazing day!
On Sat 8th we had arraned a school/parents litter pick. It was unfortunatly not well attended with only our music teacher and partner attenting - however - we completed the loop path and removed over 12 full bags of tins and bottles! This created a much needed rest for the eyes as the rubbish was distracting from all the amazing work people had put in so far.
It is looking amazing! (a video to follow, however in the meantime we have a video showing the work up to before the the rangers, volunteers and litter pick took place;
(new video to follow later) - look at some of the attached pictures!
Forest school made use of the site for the first time this month. We are hoping that by the time they go again they will see a big improvement yet again!
March - 2nd update
The countryside ranger team and volunteer group made a big impact to the entrance area! That is an understatement! What an amazing difference! Brambles, briars and so much rubbish - all gone!!! They are back on Friday - so if past expereince is anything to go by expect big things!!
The circular path is now complete, including chipped clearing. About 30 bags of rubbish have been removed already, with more to go. Take a look at the latest video!!
